Siemens extends its Simatic RF600 portfolio for ultra-high frequency (UHF) products to include the Simatic RF642L on-metal label. The self-adhesive Simatic RF642L was developed for direct mounting on metal surfaces and has a reading range of up to 2.8 meters. Due to its compact design and protection against water (degree of protection IP68), the label is primarily suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.
Siemens extends its Simatic RF600 portfolio for ultra-high frequency (UHF) products with the Simatic RF642L on-metal label.
The on-metal label functions reliably work even at extreme temperatures of -20 to +85 degrees Celsius. Typical applications are in production, logistics, and on assembly lines as well as areas where RFID (radio frequency identification) is used to support asset management or the identification of load carriers, containers, and metal devices. The label has a very compact design (50 x 22.5 x 1.65 millimeters) and uses UHF Class 1 Gen 2 technology (Electronic Product Code/EPC specification). It also has a large memory of up to 448 bit EPC plus a 2048bit user memory.
International use
The Simatic RF642L can be used in many countries due to its two frequency ranges, ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) with 865 to 868 megahertz and FCC (Federal Communications Commission) with 902 to 928 megahertz. The label can be read with RFID readers from the Simatic RF600 portfolio.
Smart Label or Smart Tags are ultra-flat, passive RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) transponders which are added to a foil and include an antenna.
