'Extremely remorseful' woman who shoved a police officer in a pub on Australia Day admits assault

A woman who pushed a police officer twice on Australia Day has walked away with a $300 fine, but no conviction. 

Melissa Sheree Knapp pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Dean Burgess told the court Knapp had been out at the Club Hotel in Queensland on Australia Day, when an altercation broke out involving two men she knew.

When police intervened, Ms Knapp pushed one of the officers twice in the chest. 

Ms Knapp's defence lawyer said she was 'extremely remorseful' for her actions, before telling the court 'she said she has apologised to the officer.' 

Magistrate Neil Lavaring fined Ms Knapp $300, but let her off with no conviction.
