CWC meeting to be held in Gujarat after 58 years

After almost six decades, a meeting of the Working Committee (CWC), the party's highest decision-making body, will be held in Mahatma Gandhi's All the top party leaders will attend the meet here on February 28.

Gandhi, his mother and Sonia Gandhi, former and for East Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi will be present at the meet as well as the Jan Sankalp Rally to be held later in the day.

Top party leaders, besides of Congress-ruled states will arrive at the around 9 a.m. on February 28. They will visit the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati and thereafter pay their homage to the CRPF troopers killed in the Pulwama attack at the at the Shahi Baug, said Chavda.

"The meeting is likely to start around 10.30 am and is expected to continue for two hours. After this a massive rally will be held at the Trimandir at Adalaj around 3 p.m.," he added.

A special committee has been formed for the CWC meeting, which will see economic, foreign, and social policies being discussed.

"All the workers are eagerly awaiting this meeting with enthusiasm. A resolution to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions as well as the democratic institutions will be passed in the CWC meet," Chavda said.

Question pertaining to handing over management of airports to private players like the would also be taken up for discussion.

In a swipe at Narendra Modi, of Opposition Paresh Dhanani said, "Sadly the BJP government is hurting the democratic institutions and the Constitution of the country. In this situation, when private players are being handed over public institutions like airports, the public is asking the 'Chowkidar' that who is benefiting out of such privatisation?"
