Chopper ride big hit as Rose Festival ends with tributes to Pulwama martyrs

CHANDIGARH: The three-day annual Rose Festival concluded here on Sunday.
Swar Ragini Mestro Pt Subhash Ghosh, a renowned artist, performed various numbers, including “Vaishnav jan ko tere kahiye re…”, “ae vatan, ae vatan, hamko teri kasam”, “ye desh hai veer javaano ka…” and “ekla chaalo re…” etc to pay tributes to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack.

Adviser to the Chandigarh administrator Manoj Kumar Parida visited the Rose Garden on the last day and paid homage to the CRPF martyrs at the “Amar Jawaan”.
He also went around the flower arrangement made by different contestants at the Rose Garden. He paid a visit to the stall put up for creating awareness regarding vote and the use of EVM.
Rajesh Kumar, Chandigarh mayor, was the chief guest on the last day, and Ranganathan, gardner at the Rose Garden, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
The mayor and the municipal commissioner K K Yadav distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions, participants of cultural events, band parties as well as the gardeners.
The mayor lauded the efforts of all the team of officers to make the Rose Festival a success.
Hardeep Singh, senior deputy mayor, area councillor Ravi Kant Sharma, Sanjay Arora, superintending engineer (B&R) other councillors and all the senior officers were present during the prize distribution function.
On the third day, besides classical music performance, patriotic songs by various budding artists of the city, live band tributes to the martyrs by Gamak band, Gataka performance by Darshan Singh and his team were organised at the main stage in the Rose Garden.
