75 per cent of this year’s H1N1 cases recorded in Feb

AHMEDABAD: The city reported 825 H1N1 cases this year, of which 612, or 75%, were registered in February. There were also three H1N1 deaths reported in the city this week.
So far this year, the city has reported 21 deaths from swine flu, of which 19 occurred in February. AMC medical officer Bhavin Solanki said only 213 of this year’s 825 swine flu cases were recorded in January, which indicates that February has been a torrid month on the H1N1 front.
Three fresh deaths were reported in Ahmedabad in the week that ended on Sunday. The victims were a 48-year-old woman resident of Saraspur, a 50-year-old woman from Sola, and a 50-year-old man from Bapunagar.
Officials said 114 fresh cases were reported across the state on Monday. Of these, 39 were from Ahmedabad city, followed by nine from Banaskantha, eight each from Patan and Surat city, six each from Vadodara city and Anand, five in Amreli, four each from Mehsana and Junagadh and two each in Ahmedabad (rural), Bhavnagar city, Gandhinagar, Aravalli. One case each was reported from Bhavnagar, Botad, Narmada, Bharuch, Gir-Somnath, Rajkot, Kheda, Surendranagar and Tapi districts.
