President Trump’s decision to delay expanded trade tariffs on Chinese imports likely staved off higher U.S. inflation, new research suggests.
Mr. Trump delayed the imposition of across-the-board 25% tariffs due to what he claimed was progress on negotiations with China to balance trade between the two nations. While tariffs introduced thus far have yet to have much impact on prices faced by consumers, the larger levies threatened to be different.
