Police flag march in Khanna

Ludhiana: Close on the heels of alleged attacks on Kashmiri students in various parts of the country, Khanna police on Sunday said it had made special security arrangements for maintaining law and order in the sub-division. Giving details, Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said the director-general of police (Punjab) Dinkar Gupta, and Ludhiana range DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra have issued directions to maintain law and order in the jurisdiction of each district.

Even as Khanna police did not give any reason for the spontaneous checking, a police officer said the measures were being taken in the aftermath of attacks on Kashmiri students, and the coming elections. Police officials said they carried out a flag march in Khanna City, including Samrala Road, Lalheri Chownk, Amloh Chownk, Malerkotla Chownk, Peer Khana Road, Khatika Chowk, Marrian Road, Meat Market, Chandla Market, Guru Amardas Market, Billanwali Chappri, bus stand, Doraha in Payal, Samrala, and Machiwara.
