Artists at work

Young Design School (YDS) hosted the annual highlight ‘Design Seminar & Portfolio Exhibition’ recently in Pune. This event was an extension of YDS’s effort to provide students critical knowledge about design education and assortment of design professions. More than 200 design aspirants and parents across Maharashtra attended the event.
 
World-renowned designer Raghavendra Rathore graced the event and spoke on the Future of Fashion Entrepreneurship. Understanding the goals of aspiring designers, who are driven by concepts like start-ups and building novel ideas, the seminar aimed to provide them with first-hand industry information from a celebrated designer who has put India on the global map through his creations and his brand. This was followed by interactive sessions, common concerns of the young aspirants and their parents were also addressed, and adequate information was provided that will help them make informed decisions when choosing the right design career.

The portfolio exhibition by students of YDS featured mesmerising self-portraits, created for the entrance test of the prestigious Gurukul School of Design, Jaipur. The exhibit aimed to provide these students an opportunity to display their work and garner valuable feedback from Rathore. The self-portraits were an expression of how the students see themselves and project the same through visual art.
