Rotto starts camp to promote organ donation

CHANDIGARH: Honouring the patriotic spirit at the Rose Fest 2019, “Support our heroes: Bharat ke veer”, and paying rich tributes to the brave hearts of Pulwama, the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (Rotto), PGI, initiated an infotainment campaign, “Be an organ donor; be a hero”, promoting organ donation on Sunday.
During the campaign, 277 took pledge to donate organ and over 2,000 reached out directly through the three-day event at the Leisure Valley.
Prof Vipin Koushal, nodal officer, Rotto, PGI, said: “Generating awareness is a first step towards change.”
A regular blood donor Simran Preet Singh not only pledged to donate organ, but also motivated his relatives to register for the cause.
Sushant Shankar Dass, after registering as an organ donor, shared: “We will be able to save some lives through this initiative, which could have not been possible otherwise.”
Police personnel from the Chandigarh traffic police also pledged to donate organ.
