Janmat Party wants to field Tanushree in Lok Sabha polls
TNN | Feb 26, 2019, 04:34 ISTJamshedpur: The Janmat Party, which was floated as the third front in Jharkhand, has proposed to field Bollywood star Tanushree Dutta from the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency in the coming parliamentary election. Tanushree was in the news recently when she made sexual harassment charge against veteran actor Nana Patekar.
Janmat Party convener Surya Singh Besra said the Tanushree’s father Tapan Dutta is keen on the proposal. Addressing the media on Monday, he said, “Tanushree hails from Jamshedpur. She also completed her schooling from here and is popular among the locals. Talks are underway to field her in the Lok Sabha polls from the Jamshedpur constituency and we are hopeful that she agrees to our proposal.”
Janmat Party is a non-BJP, non-Congress alliance comprising 14 political parties, including AAP, BSP, TMC, RSP, JPP, JMM (Ulgulan), Jharkhand Party, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) and MCC. It has decided to fight all 14 parliamentary seats from the state.
Besra said, “On March 2, representatives of all 14 constituents will meet in Ranchi to frame the common manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections. Candidates will be announced for each seat after the manifesto is made public.”
The ex-MLA added, “With the third front emerging in the state, the voters now have a new and robust alternative before them.” He accused BJP, Congress and JMM, the three leading parties of the state, of indulging in corrupt practices when they were in power.
