Forest eviction: Chhattisgarh may file SC review plea
TNN | Feb 25, 2019, 05:55 ISTRAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said his government would file a review petition in the Supreme Court on its order to evict tribals and forest dwellers whose claims over forestland have been rejected.
“In their fight for jal, jangal and zameen (water, jungle, and land), we stand shoulder to shoulder with tribals. As directed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, the state’s lawyers will appear in the Supreme Court at the next hearing. We will also file a review petition,” Baghel tweeted on Sunday.
Rahul wrote to Baghel on February 23, urging him to seek a review in the case.
“For millions of adivasis and other forest dwellers, jal, jangal and zameen are integral to right to life, guaranteed by our Constitution,” Rahul had written
