This Time with Alan Partridge screens tonight on BBC One, and fans of the legendary presenter are thrilled.

The character, played by Steve Coogan, is one of the most beloved (and abhorred) in British TV history, with a career stretching back to 1991.

With his inflated sense of celebrity and often tragic life story, Alan is stuff of TV and radio legend.

He's also one of the country's most quotable characters, with wicked one-liners about everything from his perished under pant lining to his long-suffering PA, Lynn.

Today it was revealed that he had emailed everyone who works at the BBC to let them know of his return to the broadcaster after 24 years.
