BENGALURU: Many cabbies say business was dull during the show compared to the previous edition in 2017. Normally, demand is high for premium class vehicles and mid-segment SUVs because of foreign delegates visiting.
But K Radhakrishna Holla, general secretary, Bengaluru Tourist Taxi Operators Association (BTTOA), said, “This year’s turnout was poor compared to previous editions due to of various reasons. Guests this year were mainly restricted to organizers and exhibitors. There weren’t many foreign delegates.”
Bookings into star hotels were also comparatively low, sources say. Subramania Holla, secretary of Bruhat Bangalore Hotels Association, said. “The hotel industry is already going through a rough patch after the entry of app-based booking sites. This year, the aero show seems to have lost patronage compared to previous years.”
Separately, many motorists say traffic on Bellary Road was comparatively less this year, except on Saturday when the fire mishap occurred. But traffic police say they took several measures to reduce congestion.
