KOLKATA: Jadavpur University vice-chancellor Suranjan Das finally made his way to home on Thursday after he was discharged from the south Kolkata based private hospital. Das had suffered hypertension and complained of chest pain with high Blood Pressure after he was assaulted during a scuffle inside the JU campus on Tuesday and was admitted in hospital.
Despite several people including education minister Partha Chatterjee himself requesting the VC to identify those who were involved in the scuffle leading to his "assault" Das while leaving hospital refused to do so. "I'm a teacher even before my identity as a VC. I won't identify or pin point anyone as they are all my students. However, I'm saddened by the unfortunate incident which is unimaginable. I've tried to do my best to protect my students in JU and have always given them a patient hearing. I didn't deserve such a behavior," Das told the media while being discharged from the hospital.
The JU vice-chancellor has been advised to take rest for two weeks by the doctors before he resumes regular work.
