Varanasi: A speeding truck rammed the wall of a house killing a woman and her two minor daughters who were sleeping inside on Jaunpur-Allahabad highway in Pandeypur village, under Mungra Badshahpur police station, in Jaunpur on Sunday.
Four others also sustained serious injuries in the accident. As per reports, the errant driver was driving through Pandeypur early Sunday morning. The speeding truck collided with a road divider and then rammed the mud house, owned by Dinesh Chandra Pandey. Pandey and six of his family members were sleeping inside the house when the accident occurred. As a result of the impact, the entire house collapsed and all members of the family were buried under the debris.

After hearing their cries, villagers rushed to rescue them and they were taken to the local hospital, where doctors declared Shashikala Mishra (40) and her daughters—Sandhya (12) and Rani (5)—brought dead.

The injured persons were identified as Sujata, Diksha and Rudra Pratap. They were rushed to the district hospital and were later referred to a hospital in Allahabad.

Police said the truck driver fled the scene leaving behind the vehicle. Police seized the truck and sent the bodies for postmortem examination.

Pandey said his sisters Sujata, Shashikala and their children had gone to Allahabad to visit the Kumbh Mela. They had stopped over at his house on their way back home.
