CHANDIGARH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chandigarh, organised intellectuals' meet at Law Bhawan, Sector 37, Chandigarh, on Saturday. Intellectuals from various walks of life attended the programme. Sambit Patra, national spokesperson of the BJP, was the keynote speaker during the event.
The programme was attended by doctors, engineers, industrialists, bankers, CAs, lawyers, retired bureaucrats and various other intellectuals.
In his address, Sambit Patra said the country was livid with the dastardly act of Pakistan in Pulwama. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would definitely avenge the sacrifice of the martyrs.
"India has been a country of rishis and gurus seeped in spirituality and whenever this holy land has seen inimical designs, the spirituality has destroyed such enemies. Pakistan too will meet the same fate," he said.
He said Pakistan had been the home to terrorists and has also been isolated by India. Even China, the friend of Pakistan, had to sign the document to declare Jaish-e-Mohammad as an international terrorist organisation.
He said the retaliation of the Modi government had just begun and there was much more to come. So far, only a part of water flowing to Pakistan had been stopped, the day was not far when Pakistan would have to beg for every drop of water.
He said while the entire world was united in condemning Pakistan's support to terrorism, the opposition parties in India were covertly supporting Pakistan.
"The Congress party is on record using words like 'home-grown terror' and 'so-called-terrorists' thereby giving a clean chit to Pakistan," he said.
Chandigarh BJP chief Sanjay Tandon said it was for the first time in the country that a party was taking suggestions from the populace for preparing its manifesto so that the concerns of the citizens were addressed unlike other parties, which were concerned only to guard the interests of their progeny.
He said seeing the working style of the Prime Minister Modi, Chandigarh wanted to see him as the Prime Minister of the nation again.
City MP Kirron Kher said she had worked relentlessly for the people of Chandigarh. If Chandigarh had got 24-hour water supply, it was only due to the support of the Central ministries.
