THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao's daughter and Naisamabad MP, K Kavitha said on Saturday that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is hopeful about the possibility of a non-Congress and non-BJP front coming to power in Centre.
Addressing a news meet here, Kavitha however refused to reply when asked what would be her party's approach to BJP or Congress-led combines if the alternative front failed to emerge as per TRS's wish. Kavitha was in the city to attend the national students' parliament organized by the state legislative assembly.
Kavitha said there is no reason for people in the country to vote for Congress or BJP as both had failed to address their problems. "TRS is in talks with several regional parties and many in fact share the same feeling. We would continue to work on that. Let's wait for some more time," she said.
The first woman MP from Telangana said the Centre should give more freedom to state government with regard to governance. "The Centre should be focusing on matters such as keeping our borders safe and putting in place a great monitory policy. Why should it tell a state government on how to run a school or a primary health centre?" she said.
Lauding the works of Kudumbashree in Kerala, Kavitha said that Telangana government has decided to set up such women empowerment units in every district.
