Health Minister Vishwajit Rane briefs on Sunday media persons on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s health condition at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim

AIIMS specialists examine CM at GMC

PANAJI: Just as a delegation of specialists from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences arrived in Goa to treat the hospitalised Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, an official statement maintained that the health condition of Parrikar is stable and he would be discharged from the hospital in a day or two.

Dr Pramod Garg, professor of gastroenterology and associate dean (research) at the AIIMS arrived with his team of doctors at the hospital to treat Parrikar on Sunday evening.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who visited the Chief Minister late Sunday evening, brushed off the rumours about internal bleeding.

Later speaking to media persons outside the hospital, he said, “Yesterday, we had thorough check-up of the Chief Minister, and today any discomfort to him is very minor.”

“I just spoke to him and he is absolutely stable. But the doctors suggested to keep him under observation for another day or so,” he informed.

Rane said that all the parameters of the Chief Minister are holding on and all his levels are absolutely fine, with the doctors

stating that he needs rest.

“The doctor who treated him in Delhi will manage him, and have already checked him, and further made some changes in his medicine as sometimes diversion in the prescription is necessary,” he mentioned.

The Health Minister also observed that the infection to the Chief Minister is under control and he is responding, alert and active, so there is nothing to worry about.

The Health Minister maintained that he will be henceforth the official spokesperson for sharing the health bulletin of the Chief Minister.

He also said that he would be visiting the hospital at regular intervals to inquire about Parrikar’s health.

Earlier in the day, state health secretary Ashok Kumar and noted gastroenterologist Harish Peshwe visited the hospital.

The Chief Minister was taken to the Goa Medical College and Hospital late Saturday evening, with Chief Minister’s Office informing that he would undergo upper GI endoscopy.
