Indore: The advanced tax payers for financial year 2018-19 were felicitated by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) during an event on Saturday. The early tax payers took part in a lucky draw wherein they won prizes for paying taxes.
Mayor Malini Laxman Singh Gaud said that a lucky draw and felicitation programme was organised for the citizens who paid their property and water taxes in advance till June 30 of every financial year. It is believed that this scheme has seen huge influx of advance taxes over the years.
Mayor Gaud added that every year IMC gave prizes to the advance tax payer with 6.25 per cent discount on property tax and 6 per cent discount on water tax. She further said that with the help of tax payers Indore is developing. She said that IMC is able to provide facilities like road construction, laying of sewerage lines and providing clean drinking water to the citizens.
The advance tax payers of water tax and property tax were felicitated by mayor in a ceremony organised at council hall on Saturday. The event was also attended by IMC speaker Ajay Singh Naruka and mayor in council member Shankar Yadav were also present.
While informing about the prizes the in-charge of IMC Revenue department Suraj Kairo informed said for the first prize an Alto car was won by Preeti Prassana of Palhar Nagar who paid tax of Rs 7100. Besides, a Honda Activa was the first prize for water tax payer which was given to Damodar Prasaad Ram Kunwar Sharma of Srinagar Extension who paid water tax of Rs 2260. Along with this IMC gave LED TVs and washing machines to the second and third prize winners.
