AHMEDABAD: Sleuths of the cyber cell on Saturday arrested two persons in connection with raids on a call centre on Ashram Road, Nagraj Mudaliyar (34) of Meghaninagar and Chintan Patel (25) of Naroda. During the raids last week, nine others were arrested while Mudaliyar and Patel managed to evade arrest.
DCP (cyber cell) Rajdeepsinh Jhala said Mudaliyar used to run the call centre. The operation would lure people into investing in a company with the promise of lucrative returns. Rakesh Gupta, a resident of Vaishnodevi Circle had lodged an complaint, as the accused made his father invest Rs 9.65 lakh and did not return a single penny to him.
Inspector V B Barad said Mudaliyar had roped in Chintan Patel, who has MCom and LLB degrees and is knowledgeable about banking and taxation, to open an account in the name of one Jaydeep Chauhan in a nationalized bank in Naroda.
"The accused would make victims deposit money in this account and would withdraw it money immediately after it was deposited," said Barad.
