Shobha, KPCC chief trade barbs over Aero India fire incident

Mangaluru: Heat generated from singed cars in the parking lot of Aero India 2019 spread to the political front with BJP and Congress trading barbs over the incident.
With BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje describing the fire accident as a failure of the state government, KPCC chief Dinesh Gundurao jumped to the government’s defence stating that the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP is in the habit of politicising every single event.

Interacting with reporters on Sunday, Dinesh said BJP is needlessly politicising an unfortunate accident and one did not expect the Saffron party to stoop to such levels. “A fire incident at Aero India that takes place under the control of the Union government, which a private event management company handles, is the failure of the Centre,” Dinesh hit back reminding the MP that law and order and allied subjects rests with the state government.

The BJP tried high and mighty to get Aero India shifted out of Bengaluru to Uttar Pradesh (UP) and was also the desire of Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. “It is only because our government didn’t relent, did the Union government allow the event to be held in Bengaluru,” he said rejecting criticism from Shobha that the parking lot fire incident had blotted the reputation of internationally acknowledged air show.

Averring that Shobha does not possess the political finesse in dealing with sensitive issues, the KPCC chief also ridiculed former chief minister B S Yeddurappa’s assertion that the coalition government will fold up post general election 2019. “Yeddyurappa has been stating the same for past eight months and all deadlines in this regard have passed without any whimper and it is apparent that he does not have any other meaningful work,” he said.

Referring to the audio gate that Yeddyurappa was embroiled in, Dinesh said if the former CM has an iota of morality left in him, he should resign forthwith. “His voice in the horse trading incident is clear where he offered money to our MLA to switch sides,” the KPCC chief said, adding BJP party chief Amit Shah should have dismissed him from his post. However, even Shah is not a person of morality and the BJP has come only to destroy India.
