“The new Mi MIX 3 variant comes with next-gen cellular connectivity 5G that’s said to offer up to 2Gbps+ download speed”
Xiaomi kicked off its MWC 2019 campaign with its first 5G product, the Mi MIX 5G. The company had launched the Mi MIX 3 (first impression) smartphone last year with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, a truly edge-to-edge display, and a magnetic slider. The Mi Mix 5G ships with almost all specifications from the standard model but adds the Snapdragon 855 and X50 modem for 5G connectivity to the mix (pun unintended). With the config, the handset is said to deliver up to 2Gbps+ download speed and is claimed to download a 15-second HD video in one second.
Mi MIX 5G price and availability
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G price starts at €599 (~Rs 48,999) in Western Europe. Interested buyers can pick up the handset in Onyx Black and Sapphire Blue colour options from Mi stores, mi.com and retail stores starting May 2019.
Mi Mix 3 5G specifications
Talking about the specifications, Mi MIX 3 5G comes with a magnetic sliding design and 6.39-inch Super AMOLED full-HD+ display with 93.4 percent screen to body ratio up front. The Snapdragon 855 SoC is mated with Hybrid Cooling System, up to 10GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage, along with the X50 modem.
In the camera department, the Mi MIX 3 5G rocks dual 12-megapixel (f/1.8) + 12-megapixel (f/2.4) cameras on the rear. The device also has dual phase detection autofocus, AI scene detection, 960fps slow-mo, 4-axis optical image stabilisation, and portrait photography support. The handset’s front camera is also fitted with dual cameras. The setup includes a 24-megapixel Sony IMX576 primary sensor, aided by a 2-megapixel depth-of-field secondary shooter.
The phone runs a dated Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI ROM out of the box and houses a 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+ support. Other features include a dedicated Google Assistant hardware button and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
