27-year-old arrested for rape in Hubballi

Picture used for representational purpose onlyHUBBALLI: A-40 year old woman was allegedly raped by a 27-year old in Old Hubballi police station limits. Though the offence took place on February 6, a case was registered only on Saturday.
Police have arrested Sridhar alias Siddu Kapare, a resident of Bharati Nagar, Old Hubballi. The survivor was threatened with dire consequences if she reported the incident to police or anyone. On Friday, the victim directly approached the police commissioner and narrated her nightmare. The commissioner immediately instructed Old Hubballi police to register an FIR and investigate the case.
Police said both the survivor and the accused were known to each other. The victim stays alone. Sridhar had allegedly promise to arrange a job for her and on the pretext of discussing the issue, he came to her residence on February 6 and raped her, a police officer who is probing the case said.
