NEW DELHI: A woman was seriously injured after her stalker attacked her with a blade in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri on Saturday night outside her home. The woman, who is a postgraduate student, suffered deep wounds on her face and had to undergo surgery to stitch her wounds.

Senior police officers said that the suspect has been identified and a case has been registered at Raja Park police station. The woman told cops that she had gone to a nearby grocery store when the man intercepted her on a motorcycle and slashed her face before fleeing.

The woman told cops that the man who attacked her had been stalking her for some time and had threatened her when she refused his advances. The accused has a past criminal record and had been arrested multiple times. He had recently come out of prison a few months back and since then, had again started troubling the woman.

The family members told cops that they had earlier complained to the suspect’s parents about his habits but then they had apologised for his behaviour and requested them not to involve the police. However, the man again started harassing the woman after he came out of jail.

The investigating teams have recorded the woman and her parent’s statement and a manhunt has been launched to nab the suspect. The locals also told the police that the man was hovering around the woman’s house on Saturday and circled it on his motorcycle several times before finding an opportune moment to attack her.
