Neighbour held for raping 17-year-old girl

PALANPUR: Police arrested a man accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in Limdi village of Kheralu taluka in Mehsana district late night on Friday. The accused, Alpeshji Thakor, lives in same neighbourhood as the rape survivor, said police.
According to police, the incident took place when the survivor had gone out of her house to answer nature's call late on Thursday.
Taking advantage of her loneliness, the accused dragged the girl to an isolated place and allegedly raped her. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
The girl told her family about the ordeal on Friday and lodged FIR with to Kheralu police station against the accused. Police booked Thakor under for rape and under section 4 and 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
