LUCKNOW/ GORAKHPUR: Indicating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh, BJP national president Amit Shah called upon the party cadres in the state to go to each and every village to convey PM's message.

" Modi ji phir se pradhan mantri banne ke baad, UP se hi Modi ji pradhan mantri banke, UP ko drut gati se aage badhane ka kaam karenge (After Modi ji becomes PM once again, Modi ji becoming PM from UP, will take UP forward at accelerated speed)," said Shah, while addressing a Sahkari Badhu Sammelan in Lucknow on Saturday. Modi had contested 2014 general polls from Varanasi in UP and Vadodara in Gujarat, and had let go Vadodara seat after winning both. Shah, did not clarify whether Modi will stick to Varanasi seat.

‘Rahul Baba misguiding K’taka farmers’

Taking pot shots at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, while referring to him mockingly as Rahul Baba, Shah said, “Rahul Baba made false promises to farmers in Karnataka. Now, he says farmers’ loans have been waived off. We had done it earlier here in UP, Rahul Baba. You promised to waive loans in Karnataka. There were loans of Rs 48,000 crore but you couldn’t waive off more than Rs 1,800 crore. You are misleading farmers by making false promises.”

“With the launch of Kisan Samman Yojana by PM Modi in Gorakhpur on Sunday, BJP would ensure that Rs 7.50 lakh crore reach farmers’ accounts directly in 10 years,” Shah added.

“The UPA government managed just one loan waiver in 10 years and waived off loans of Rs 53,000 crore of 3 crore farmers. On Sunday, Modi ji will launch a scheme under which Rs 75,000 crore will be transferred into bank accounts of 15 crore farmers in a single year,” he said.
