Ujjain: Malviya presents report card at thinly attended workers’ convention

Ujjain: Member of Parliament (MP) Chintamani Malviya presented a report card based on the activities and achievements of his tenure during at a workers convention organised in the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy premises here on Friday afternoon. Against the claim that thousands of workers from 2100 booths of the parliamentary constituency will participate in the convention, hardly 1000 persons were present on the occasion.

The programme which was scheduled to begin at 12.30 noon could actually begin after 1.30 pm. A number of leaders were invited for the convention, but most of them remained conspicuous due to their absence. Rest of the leaders, made long speeches but quickly disappeared from the venue after delivering their speech. By hosting the event, MP Malviya wanted to show his strength and also tried to make his claim again for the BJP ticket in the coming elections.

Those who spoke at the convention include Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, MLA and ex-minister Narottam Mishra, ex-Central Simhastha Fair Organising Committee chairman Makhan Singh Chouhan, Rajya Sabha member Satya Narayan Jatiya, MLAs Paras Jain, Bahadur Singh Chouhan and Mohan Yadav and Mayor Meena Jonwal.

BJP city chief Vivek Joshi delivered the welcome address. Interestingly, none of mentioned of BJP national president Amit Shah, state president Rakesh Singh or even ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.  BJP rural unit president Shyam Bansal gave outline of the programme. Suresh Giri conducted the proceedings while Ashok Katariya proposed a vote of thanks.

“Though our position in Madhya Pradesh is not very bad after assembly elections, but it is sure that small mistakes restricted us to form the government again. Every countryman keeps expectations from Narendra Modi as he has a capacity to take bold decisions and to win everybody’s trust. There is no doubt over formation of government at the Center once again, but question is to get full majority. Congress and other parties who did not get 10 percent Lok Sabha seats last time are eager to grab the post of leader of opposition and thus are competing with each other.”
SUMITRA MAHAJAN, LOK SABHA SPEAKER

“Kamal Nath who is a big industrialist himself, has brought a new culture in Madhya Pradesh, instead of bringing new industries, transfer and abduction industries have grown-up fast in last 60 days. Contrary to the claims of Congress government, farmers of the state will not get the benefit of more than Rs 25,000 in the name of loan waiver. During Lok Sabha elections, the electorates would have two opportunities: by voting in favour of BJP for Lok Sabha, they will get government in state as bonus.”
