Bhopal: The final publication of special summary revision of voters list has shown a rise of 6.95% in number of voters in Madhya Pradesh, informed Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Yadav on Friday. During summary revision of the electoral roll, 30.50 lakh forms were received under various categories. 17,26,495 applications were received to add names, 7,35,258 forms were received for removing name from the voters list, 4,86,415 forms were received for minor amendments in forms and 1,02,029 applications for change of address within same assembly constituency were addressed during this exercise.
Total number of voters in 2014 Lok Sabha elections were 4,81,21,301 which after increasing by 6.95% has now reached 5,14,67,980. Rise in male voters was observed by 5.89% and female by 7.99%. Most astonishing hike was found in third gender voters that increased by 32.74%.
Overall 9.68 lakh voters have increased besides seeing a rise in gender ratio that has now come to 919 which stood at 902 in 2014. Indore parliamentary constituency has highest number of voters (23,17,191) while CM Kamal Nath’s constituency Chhindwara has lowest number of voters (15,05,267).
Overall 10,387 polling stations have been added in comparison with 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Mandla Parliamentary Constituency (PC) has highest number of polling stations with 2581 stations while Satna with 1943 polling stations has lowest number. Each PC has an average 17,72,483 voters that stood at 16,58,333 voters in 2014. There are overall 65,960 service voters in state out of which 27 voters are posted in various embassies or missions abroad.
Change in call centre system management
Election commission has decentralised the call centre management system. Earlier the number 1950 used to connect the caller directly to election commission office in Bhopal but now it will connect him to his district call centre for redressal of his problem or filing a complaint. To make complaint for another district one has to dial the STD code of the concerning district. To contact state call centre 18002331950 can be dialled.
