The Youth Congress Malappuram parliament committee took out a protest march to the District Police Chief’s office here on Saturday demanding Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of two Youth Congress men at Periya near Kasaragod.

Inaugurating the march, A.P. Anil Kumar, MLA, said that the CPI(M) was protecting the killer group that executed the murder. He accused the CPI(M) of trying to protect the ‘killer group’ by making one Peethambaran a scapegoat.

Mr. Anil Kumar questioned the dual face of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the latter’s condemnation of the murder and restraints on the police from making an unbiased investigation.

“People of the State have lost faith in the police. They know police under this government will not bring the real culprits to book,” he said.

Youth Congress parliament committee president Riyas Mukkoli presided. Senior Congress leaders V.A. Kareem, Veekshanam Mohammed and A.K. Abdurahman were among those who spoke.
