Agumbe Ghat to be closed in March

more-in

Vehicular movement on Agumbe Ghat road, considered as the main link between Malnad and coastal Karnataka regions, has been barred from March 1 to 31 for repair work.

Landslides had been reported on this stretch in June and July 2018 owing to heavy rain. Following this, temporary restoration and repair work was undertaken.

K.A. Dayanand, Deputy Commissioner of Shivamogga, has said that national Highway 169 that passes through Tirthahalli, Koppa, Sringeri, Mala Ghat in Kudremukh National Park, and Karkala has been identified as the alternative route for movement of buses, four-wheelers, light commercial vehicles and two-wheelers. Luxury buses, bullet tankers, cargo container trucks, and long chassis trucks should ply through State Highway 52 that connects Tirthahalli with Kundapur.
