Three inter-state thieves arrested in Thithimathi

Madikeri: Gonikoppal police have arrested three inter-state thieves and seized two motorbikes and jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh stolen by them late on Thursday evening.
The accused are T A Saleem, son of Moidu, native of Mandava Parambu village in Kerala, K Ansar, 24, son of Hussein, native of Naduvakadu in Mattanuru, and NP Aziz, son of Mohammad, a resident of Nehru Colony in Virajpet in Kodagu district.

Police, who were on patrol, arrested the trio when they were moving around suspiciously at Thithimathi on Thursday. They admitted to committing crimes on being interrogated by police.

The thieves are said to have stolen articles at Poonampet, Thithimathi, Panjarpet and Subhashnagar in Virajpet, Venkatappa Layout in Gonikoppal, Suntikopa and Hunsur. Many cases are pending in several police stations against them. They had recently stolen a motorbike which was parked near the house of Praveen Kumar at Thithimathi.


The police team comprised Ponnampet SI BG Mahesh, Gonikoppal SI Sridhar, and staff. The thieves were arrested following a direction from SP Suman Pannekar, Virajpet DSP Nagappa, and Gonikoppa circle inspector Divakar.


Biker killed


A bike rider was killed after his two-wheeler rammed a moped at Ashokpura here late on Thursday night. The deceased is Shashikumar, 28. He died on the spot after hitting the moped ridden by Prabhakar of Chettalli Kandakere. Shahsikumar, who worked at an automobile service centre here, was a resident of Kadagadal village. Prabhakar complained to traffic police that Shahsikumar’s reckless riding caused the accident. Prabhakar is being treated for injuries.
