A 60-year-old daily wager allegedly murdered his wife by attacking her with a wooden log in Salem district on Friday.

A heated quarrel between them broke out early on Friday morning. In a fit of fury, Singaram picked up a brick and hit her head. He also assaulted her with a wooden log resulting in her death on the spot. Singaram then fled the spot.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Attur Government Hospital for post-mortem. Police have launched a manhunt to nab Singaram.
Police said Singaram, a resident of Pethampatti near Attur, suspected that his wife Sumathy (45) had an affair with another person.
