Leopard hiding in cane fields attacks 2 workers

MANDYA: Two agriculture workers were grievously injured in a leopard attack at Chikkosahalli village of KR Pete taluk.
Suresh and Dinesh were attacked while they were harvesting sugarcane in a field. The victim, both residents of Maduvinakodi village, were bitten and scratched by the big cat.
The leopard that was in the sugarcane field pounced on them when they came to cut the cane. The other workers in the labourers rushed to their rescue. They threw stones and other objects at the leopard.
The leopard disappeared on seeing the people. The victims were brought to taluk government hospital where they are being treated and their condition is said to becritical.
Residents in the area have been urging forest officers to place cages and capture the leopard.
