Winter is coming!
TNN | Feb 23, 2019, 05:45 ISTRanchi: Weather is likely to take a turn in Jharkhand over the weekend as India Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi on Friday predicted the possibility of cloudy skies accompanied by thunder and strong winds over the next 72 hours.
In its evening weather bulletin, IMD Ranchi issued predictions of lightning and strong winds in south and central Jharkhand on Saturday. “Isolated places may get hailstorm, lightning and storm on February 25 while north-eastern, central and southern Jharkhand is likely to experience lightning with strong winds on February 26,” the IMD statement read.
IMD Ranchi director SD Kotal said the turn in weather was due to a trough line which had been developed over Jharkhand and was extending up to Chattisgarh. “The synoptic situation is also supported by an anti-cyclone which has developed over the Bay of Bengal. It will carry sufficient moisture,” Kotal added.
The turn in weather caused cloudy skies in Ranchi. IMD said maximum temperatures have been hanging above normal by an average of four degrees C. Maximum temperature in Ranchi was 33.6 degrees C, while Jamshedpur was 36 degrees C and Daltonganj recorded 35.6 degrees C. “Minimum temperatures are likely to drop by one or two degrees after skies clear from Sunday,” Kotal added.
