HYDERABAD: In the largest compensation announced either by the Centre or any state for CRPF personnel killed in Pulwama terror attack, the Telangana government on Friday pledged Rs 25 lakh to each family of the slain 40 soldiers. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced this in the Telangana assembly following which the House passed a unanimous resolution.
Other states have also announced compensation, but mostly for those hailing from their regions. Rajasthan announced Rs 50 lakh, but only for families of five jawans from the state. AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had announced Rs 5 lakh to the families of all the killed CRPF jawans.

While moving the resolution, the CM said there was a need to send a strong message that Telangana and the entire nation stood by families of the martyred soldiers. None of the soldiers is from Telangana. “It was a gruesome act. This incident has shocked the entire India. We deeply mourn it,” the CM said. Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, supporting the resolution, said that the attack highlighted the need to strengthen the security apparatus. BJP’s lone legislator Raja Singh urged the CM to write a letter to PM Narendra Modi to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. “Enough is enough. Now is the time to talk to them in their own language. I request the CM to write a letter to the PM to put Pakistan in its place. Telangana will stand by him,” he said.
Mohammad Moazam Khan of MIM demanded a probe into how explosives in large quantities were transported into a safe zone. He also slammed the attacks on Kashmiris across the country following the terror strike. “By doing so, we are playing into the hands of Islamabad and ISI. They want to foment trouble,” he said.
