All the five minor girls, who ran away from the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Kesavapatnam mandal in the early hours of Saturday, were traced to the Nizamabad RTC bus station complex on Saturday night.
The police sources said that they could the trace all the five girls and secure them to safe custody with the support of Nizamabad police and the district authorities. They said that the students would be bought back to the KGBV Kesavapatnam on Sunday morning.
The reasons for their running away from the residential hostel and others would be known only after their return , the police officials said.
Police sources said that the five minor girl students, all students of tenth class and preparing for the SSC examinations, had run away from the hostel by climbing the hostel compound wall using a ladder. The police said that the hostel doors were locked and there was watchman present in the hostel, further there were four teachers on night duty.
The five girls after ensuring all the teachers and watchman were asleep ran away from the hostel. The reason for their running away was not known immediately. However, the KGBV authorities said that all the five students were intelligent and did not face any examination stress.
The police said that they had a record of the movement of the girls at KGBV till 11.32 p.m. Later, they could track the movements of the girls in CCTV footage at the bus stand area at 12.30 a.m. They were not sure whether they boarded a bus or travelled in an auto-rickshaw and where they had gone.
Following the complaint lodged by KGBV special officer Swapna, the Kesavapatnam police registered a case and dispatched special teams to Warangal, Karimnagar and Secunderabad to trace and locate the girls. The police said that they had alerted all the police stations in Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Hyderabad city by sending the pictures of the missing girls.
In the meantime, the parents of the all five missing girls reached the KGBV.
