A Central Queensland man has been charged with murder after a man was found dead in suspicious circumstances.

The 57-year-old man was found dead in a Todd Street address after police were called to the scene just after 2pm on Friday in Yeppoon, about 40 kilometres from Rockhampton.

A crime scene was established and investigations were under way to determine the circumstances of the death.

Police arrested a 49-year-old Yeppoon man who knew the victim on Friday.

He is due to appear in the Yeppoon Magistrates Court on Monday.
