New Mangaluru Police Commissioner to continue programmes of predecessors

While promising to continue the phone-in and other initiatives taken by his predecessors, the new Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said on Friday that he will work towards ensuring peace and tranquillity in the city.

Talking to reporters after taking charge, Mr. Patil said he will continue all programmes of his predecessors in traffic regulation, women safety and drug control. His initial priority will be to ensure peaceful conduct of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Saying that he was glad to get the opportunity to serve in Mangaluru, Mr. Patil said he will discharge his duty to the expectation of the people. He will study the requirements of the city for the next few days and announce new initiatives, Mr. Patil said.

A native of Bidar district, Mr. Patil finished his studies in Bengaluru. The 2004 batch IPS officer has served as Superintendent of Police in Ballari, Kodagu, Davangere and Belagavi districts.

He has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Bengaluru City North and the Bengaluru City Central Divisions. He has also served as Superintendent of Police (Intelligence).

Following his promotion, Mr. Patil served as Deputy Inspector General in the Karnataka State Reserve Police and in the Bengaluru City Armed Reserve before his posting to Mangaluru.
