Mumbai: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers staged a protest outside the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) office in Bandra, demanding a minimum 500 sqft flats for people qualifying under the slum rehabilitation housing programme in Mumbai. The AAP also demanded a quick solution to the Project Affected People (PAPS), stuck in transit camps due to the development work of the BMC and the state government.
Currently, the space allocated under the SRA rehabilitation project is 300 sqft. “These are matchbox size flats. How can a family of four be accommodated? The AAP seeks a 500 sqft flats under the SRA projects, Mumbai. Besides, we want housing to all under the SRA projects for Mumbaikars.
We also demand a resettlement of people stuck under transit camps through SRA projects,” said Ravi Rao, AAP Mumbai chief. About corruption, AAP Mumbai panel member Govind Rawat said, “The SRA has been mired in corruption for 25 years. No project has seen successful completion. The govt should take cognisance of all the issues.” —Staff Reporter
