Lucknow: Door of car swings open, biker rams & gets run over

LUCKNOW: An elderly biker was crushed to death when his motorcycle rammed into car door that the four-wheeler driver suddenly opened before him and came under the front wheel of a road roller. The incident took place in Vikasnagar area of the city on Thursday morning.
The victim—Hriday Narayan Dubey (62) of Jankipuram - was not wearing a helmet when the mishap took place.
Police said occured around 11:30 am when Hriday Narain was on his way to Kapoorthala on a motorcycle. He had barely reached India market complex near Terdi Puliya when the driver of a stationary car suddenly opened the door of the vehicle. Hriday’s motorcycle rammed into the car door and he fell on the road before a road roller which was coming from the opposite direction. Before the driver of the heavy mechine coiuld apply brakes, the road roller ran over his head, killing him on the spot.
As onlookers gathered at the mishap site, traffic came to a halt on the road leading to snarls around Tedhi Puliya crossing blocked. The car driver, who was witness to the enite incident, fled the scene leaving his vehicle behind. Police, on being informed, reached the site and seized the car and the road roller involved in the mishap.
Circle Officer Mahanagar Santosh Singh said the victim was rushed to the Trauma Centre at KGMU by the police immediately after the incident but was declared dead upon arrival by the doctors. "As per eye-witnesses the victim was not wearing a helmet and had suffered severe head injuires in the accident. The drivers of both car and roller fled from the scene. We are trying to trace them," he added. A case was lodged against both the persons in connection withn the incident where the two were booked for causing death due to negligence. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Earlier, on December 22, 2018, a biker was killed in a similar accident in Aashiana when a cab driver had suddenly opened the door of his moving to spit. The 26-year-old man’s bike had rammed into the cab’s door killing him on the spot. The victim, Ayush, was riding without a helmet.
