GuruQ has invested itself in a future where technology is leveraged throughout the learning experience. Its vision is to transform the Indian education system through various e-learning initiatives and equip Indian students with education of global standards through the best tutors. It aims to become India’s largest aggregator of tutors and tuition.

For this young startup, December of its year one (taken as 2018-19) saw more than 15,000 tutors in Delhi-NCR registered on the platform, with over 5,000 being GuruQ-certified. It has expanded operations to Haryana and Punjab. In cities such as Amritsar, Chennai, Rohtak and Agra, it already has certified 500 tutors each in only a month. GuruQ has over 5,000 students registered on the platform with over 200 taking classes with tutors monthly.

“GuruQ was born out of the desire to improve the way Indian students learn, and to influence their growth trajectory positively, making them at par with global students. GuruQ is an enabler of quality learning — a digital platform that connects students with background-verified, certified tutors. Through these thoroughly vetted teachers, we believe in providing highest quality education to students keeping in mind their convenience, safety and performance,” Minal Anand informs.

The Early Breakthroughs
Multi-faceted challenges marked the initial periods of the business, including in areas such as operations, user experience, tutor acquisition, processes and the underlying digital architecture. GuruQ has revamped its entire digital infrastructure, creating a “better platform” in the process, essentially the version two of GuruQ.

One of its biggest advances has been in innovation. “Our digital platform helps students connect with the right tutors. We have consistently updated our platform to streamline the process of finding tutors. What was earlier a resource-intensive process that consumed a lot of time and physical effort is now a far more efficient task, which can be done from the comfort of one’s home. We have also developed tutor and student dashboards, which assist tutors and students across day-to-day activities,” elaborates Anand.

She is also bullish on the scalability of the business. “We have a recurring revenue model, which has yielded fruitful results throughout our growth-trajectory. Considering the break-neck pace at which the Indian ed-tech sector is growing, we are certain that our revenue model coupled with the diversification of the same will drive exponential growth for us,” she states.
