BJP leader demands CBI inquiry

BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha on Thursday alleged that there was corruption in West Bengal in procurement of paddy from farmers and demanded a CBI investigation into it.

Farmers are committing suicide in many parts of the State as they are not receiving proper price of their produce, Mr. Sinha claimed. While, the MSP of paddy was set at ₹1,750 by the Centre, in Bengal, in many places, the farmers were getting ₹1,350 and were forced to sign receipts stating that they were receiving ₹1,750, he alleged. “We demand a CBI inquiry into it,” Mr. Sinha said.

He announced that the BJP will organise a massive agitation across West Bengal on the issue on February 27.

State Food Supplies Minister Jyotipriyo Mullick said the BJP should not level allegations without any proof.
