8 lakh farmers in State apply for PM-KISAN

Till Thursday, eight lakh farmers in the State have applied through Krishi Bhavan for enrolling in the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), the Agriculture Department said.

The details of 1,27,679 farmers have been uploaded on the pmkisan.nic.in web portal. Of this, 19,520 have been found eligible for financial assistance under the scheme.

PM-KISAN offers 100% Central financial assistance. The scheme promises ₹6,000 annually to all small and marginal farmer families who possess total cultivable holding of up to two hectares.

Under the scheme, the Centre will transfer the money to the bank account of the beneficiary through the State Notional Account. The money will be provided in three instalments of ₹2,000 each every four months in a financial year.

On the other hand, 2101 applications were rejected for discrepancies in Aadhaar card and bank account numbers and IFSC codes. As many as 90,376 applications are being scrutinised by the centre.

Krishi Bhavans will accept applications till March 31.
