Indore: There is good news for nature lovers as the western railway is planning to extend the existing route from Patalpani-Kalakund to Choral meter gauge station. Choral is a beautiful spot on this section with two magnificent waterfalls, ever flowing Choral River and virgin mountains of Vindya Valley.
The Patalpani-Kalakund rail section has been converted into a heritage track recently and it’s the only route of the Western Railway which is blessed with wonders of nature like waterfalls (Patalpani), ever flowing river (Choral) and green cover of the Vindaya valley. Talking to Free Press, Rajesh Agrawal, Member (Rolling Stocks and Heritage section) of the Railway Board said he had instructed DRM RN Sunkar to explore the possibility of extension of heritage track from Kalakund to Choral railway station about 9 km.
On Tuesday, Agrawal inspected the Patalpani- Kalakund track via Heritage train. He said on the report of the DRM, the Railway Board is considering to widen this section up to Choral station. When asked, Sunkar said he would start assessing extension work from next month.
The Choral station would be a crucial point for railways as well as for the tourists coming from Khandwa side. As per the proposal of gauge conversion of Mhow-Khandwa section, the broad gauge lines from both the sides would join at Choral station. As per the wish of Agrawal, one side of the Choral station would have platform for broad gauge and another platform for the meter gauge section.
