NEW DELHI: Delhi government will organise ‘Moscow Days’ — a cultural festival depicting the performing and visual art of the Russian capital, the life there and its cuisine — later this year. A similar festival on Delhi’s art and culture will be held in Moscow as well.
The decision was taken in a meeting of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia with Sergey Cheremin, a minister in the Moscow government. “These events will benefit the people of Delhi and Moscow to understand each other culturally,” Cheremin was quoted as saying in a statement by Delhi government.
The three-day event will be organised either in the last week of September or second week of November, the statement said. The Delhi Travel and Tourism Development Corporation has been appointed as the nodal agency to facilitate the event, it added.
A government spokesperson said the Moscow government also expressed its keen interest in organising sports events, especially friendly matches between former chess champions from both India and Russia.
Delhi health and urban development minister, Satyendar Jain, and chief secretary Vijay Kumar Dev also attended the meeting, held at Delhi secretariat.
“Moscow’s transport system is one of the best in the world and we’ll be eager to learn,” said Sisodia.
