Forget everything you’ve saved on your Pinterest and liberate yourself from all the stress by allowing yourself to just be you. As a bride, from what you’re going to wear to how you’re planning to do your hair, everything has to fit perfectly. Keeping your hair in mind, two things are important–your hairstyle and the hair colour to complete your bridal look.

It’s 2019 and, like everything else, hair colour is barely limited to blacks, browns, reds and blondes. Today, everything goes. Walking into a salon for a hair colouring experience is more than just emerging with an out-and-out makeover.

Here’s what the five brides had to say after their Wella makeover:

Pragya’s concern: Repeated hair colouring can cause hair damage

No stranger to hair colour, Pragya has always experimented with her hair. She was excited to try out a new hair colour, but what concerned her was whether repeatedly doing so would make her hair frizzy and damaged.

After a meeting with Wella expert Nitin Manchanda and his team, she was reassured that the integrity of her hair would not be compromised. They’d be using Wellaplex with the colour to protect her hair from damage, so the results would complement her elegant sense of style. The Wella team did a balayage and created a blend of spiced browns and soft blondes to bring out her sharp features. The team then styled her hair in a textured side-bun to illustrate the gradations in colour.

Lahari’s concern: Light colours will not suit her personality

Blessed with naturally curly hair, Lahari had never got her hair coloured professionally and always took the DIY route for her occasional “new look”. Though thrilled for this makeover, she didn’t want the Wella team to go too light with the colour, as she felt it might make her hair look dry and frizzy. Also, she strongly believed that lighter tones wouldn’t go well with her personality.

The Wella team focused on enhancing and adding dimension to Lahari’s curls. Keeping her preference in mind (“no light colours, please”), and her sporty, up-and-about personality, the team opted for red and wine tones to add an extra dimension to her curls.

Neha’s concern: Worried about colouring her hair for the first time

Neha had never coloured her hair and this was a big step for her. She told us that had if it not been for the #BridesInColour contest she would have never taken the plunge. A believer in keeping it ‘natural’, this was something that raised a lot of apprehensions. However, the Wella expert Nitin reassured her that they’d be using Wellaplex with the colour to protect her hair from damage. Keeping Neha’s doubts in mind, the Wella team chose a classic weaving technique with tones of mahogany, browns and subtle coppers to initiate her into the world of hair colour.

Pooja’s concern: Experimenting when the D-Day is days away

Experimenting so close to the wedding was a major concern for Pooja. The Wella team assured her that a “hair colour makeover” does not necessarily mean they’d choose pink or rainbow tones. Instead, they worked with variations of her natural hair colour for a refreshing, new look.

After a consultation with Wella expert Nitin and his team, it was decided that for Pooja they’d do a colour gradation from darker roots with chocolate browns to lighter ends with caramel blondes.

Parineta’s concern: Will Wella shades do well for her skin tone?

Parineta had always coloured her hair yet had a whole lot of concerns. She was worried about whether the shades picked by the Wella team would suit her skin tone and if she’d be able to pull it off.

The Wella team created a fusion of different tones of earthy browns and subtle blondes from the Le Beige family of shades. This melange of colours added volume and texture to her fine hair and complimented her skin tone beautifully.

All five women came from different parts of the country, with different personalities and styles. Keeping that in mind, Wella not only gave the brides-to-be a makeover that enhanced their beauty, but made sure their hair remained healthy and protected.
