Projects worth Rs 754 crore approved for five towns

JAIPUR: The work finalization committee of the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) has given approval for Rs 754cr of works in phase IV at five towns in the state.
RUIDP in the fourth phase had selected 42 towns for development of basic infrastructure. Thirty-two of such towns have a population ranging from 50,000 to one lakh while 10 towns have heritage value. The works includes drinking water, sewerage and heritage protection and development.
The project is executed with the finial assistance of Asian Development bank (ADB). The total cost of the project is Rs 5000 crore of which the state government would contribute Rs 1400 crore while the rest of Rs 3600 crore was being provided by the ADB.
The five towns selected under the scheme now are Fatehpur and Rattangarh, Laxmangarh, Kuchaman and Sardarshahar.
Officials said the work sanctioned at Fathepur and Rattangarh are for the construction of sewerage while in the remaining three towns drinking water projects have been sanctioned.
The city wise allocation of money is Laxmangarh Rs 41.70 crore, Fathepur Rs 97.70 crore, Rattangarh 158.80, Kuchaman 269.84 and Sardarshahar Rs 186.25 crore. The faecal sledge and septage management (FSSM) work at areas outside the city limits and less populated areas also included in the project.
Officials said under the project on a built and operate basis. The company which executes the project had also to manage and maintain the project for the next ten years. The project costs involve its maintenance cost also.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by secretary local bodies Siddharth Mahajan and vice chairman RUDSICO, project director Jitendra Kumar Soni, representative of concerned cities district collectors and chief engineer RUIDP, chief advisor A K Jain and officials of the departments concerned.
