Matriculation exams in Odisha to begin today

Over six lakh students to write test

Over six lakh students of Odisha will write the State Matriculation Examination - 2019, which is beginning on Friday and will continue till March 8. The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, is conducting the examination in four streams — Regular, Ex-Regular, Madhyama for Sanskrit students and Open School Certificate for school dropouts.

BSE controller of examination Nihar Ranjan Mohanty informed that the Board has already dispatched question-cum-answer booklets of first three papers to all the 304 nodal centres across the State. “The booklets will be sent to various examination centres from the designated nodal centres only on the day of the examination between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and the examinations will be held from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.,” Mr. Mohanty said. Practical examinations in all the subjects have already been conducted.

Education Secretary Pradeepta Mohapatra said the question-cum-answer booklets are kept at the nodal centres which are provided with round-the-clock security by armed guards. These booklets will be carried to various examination centres under armed police security, Mr. Mohapatra said. Preventive measures under Section 144 of CrPC have been clamped at hyper-sensitive and sensitive examination centers.
