The Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam will take the right decision on joining the National Democratic Alliance as it had respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was concerned about the country, said BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday.
Addressing the media after a meeting of party functionaries, attended by national president Amit Shah here, she said Congress leader Su. Thirunavukkarasar’s meeting with DMDK president Vijayakant was not a big deal. “Such meetings do not matter. They (DMDK) have met us also,” she said.
Claiming that alliance-related talks were almost over, she said there were one or two parties with whom negotiations were still in progress. “Things will be clear in a few days,” she added.
She said defeating the “corrupt alliance” of the DMK and the Congress and forming a corruption-free government once again at the Centre was the only objective of the BJP’s alliance formation in Tamil Nadu. “No one should think that we are contesting in just five constituencies. What matters is our alliance’s win in all the 40 seats,” she said.
On Mr. Shah’s criticism in the past of the AIADMK running a corrupt government in Tamil Nadu, she said he did not criticise the ruling party but only the general scenario of ‘cash-for-votes’ and other election-related corruption prevalent in the State.
