Man held for cheating after 22 years on run

Picture for representational purpose only.AHMEDABAD: The police crime branch on Thursday arrested Rajesh Baldev Patel, who was on the run for last 22 years after taking away Rs 8000 from cash collection of a company.
Assisstant commissiner of police, crime branch, Bhagirathsinh Gohil, said a complaint was lodged in April 1997 in this regard. "Acting on a tip-off, we nabbed Patel from his house in Jyoti Darshan Society in Meghaninagar and have handed him over to Meghnainagar police station," said Gohil.
Sub Inspector JP Roziya of crime branch said they are interrogating the accused. "We are probing whether he is involved in any other such crime or not," added Roziya.
Crime branch sources said after interrogation the accused will be handed over to Meghaninagar police for further legal procedure.
